On the afternoon of Sunday 27th April a fire occurred in a 200 metre by 50 metre high bay warehouse in Bilston, West Midlands.
The warehouse is fitted with intermediate level sprinkler heads
The seat of the fire was in a 1m³ stack of cardboard packaging and the operation of one sprinkler head controlled the fire until West Midlands Fire Service completed the damping down of the area. There was no fire spread beyond the immediate area of the fire.
The 50 strong work-force evacuated safely and were able to resume work after an interruption of about 1.5 hours
