Shrewsbury GRP factory: 6th September 2016

Sprinkler save in Shrewsbury glass reinforced plastics (GRP) manufacturer At 1448 hours on Tuesday 6 September 2016, a fire broke out in a GRP manufacturer sending thick black smoke across Shrewsbury. The building measured approximately 60m x 30m and was of steel frame construction with brick lower walls, steel sides and a steel roof. Crews were in attendance within minutes and observed that the fire had vented through a production extraction chimney. Two firefighters entered the building and were able to extinguish the fire using a hose reel jet as the area of the fire were being suppressed with the sprinkler system. Ipswich office block: 29th August 2016

Ipswich Office Block At 20:19 on 29th August 2016 Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service received an AFA signal to a 6 storey office block towards the centre of the town. On arrival at the premises operational crews were faced with smoke issuing from the car park at ground floor level and upon investigation it was identified that an amount of cardboard and rubbish had been placed within the car park and set alight. This had activated a single head from the sprinkler system which had controlled the fire to the point of extinction with only remedial action and checking of hotspots/turning over from the operational personnel required. Hounslow shopping centre: 3rd August 2016 At 11:42 on Wednesday 3rd August 2016 , a fire broke out in a 5m x5m storeroom at a department store at the Treaty Shopping Centre in Hounslow High Street. London Fire Brigade mobilised 4 pumping appliances to the incident but on arrival it was noted that one sprinkler head on the wet pipe system had activated within the storeroom and suppressed the fire. 1 hose-reel jet was used by attending crews to extinguish. Wandsworth recycling facility: 21st and 25th July 2016

Fires and suppression system activation at Smugglers Way recycling facility, London A Wandsworth recycling facility has seen its second fire in just the space of a week. The first fire at Smugglers Way happened on Thursday 21st July. London Fire Brigade were notified at 21.06 of a compressor conveyer belt involved in a fire and crews from Wandsworth, Battersea, Tooting and Fulham responded. The fire was under control at 22.46. The on-site sprinklers helped control the fire until crews arrived while 41 people left the building with no reports of any injuries sustained. Sprinkler activation at Kirkcaldy flooring manufacturer, 19th July 2016 At 0129 hr on Tuesday 19th July 2016 a fire was detected by automatic alarm system in a machinery room at a factory producing flooring products in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. The fire was a standby diesel generator used to back up the main electrical supply and jockey pump for the sprinkler pump house. Scottish Fire and Rescue service mobilised 2 rescue pumps, 1 aerial pump, and 1 station manager to the incident. The fire was extinguished by 0213 hrs.
