Leominster plastics factory sprinkler activation: 15th February 2016
Firefighters were mobilised to a factory fire at BPI Films off the Worcester Road, Leominster at 22:15 hours on Tuesday 15th February following reports of a machine fire.
Group Commander for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, Richie Jordan, said that four crews were called after reports of a fire in a plastic extruding machine which had spread to some of the ducting contained around the machine.
On-site staff used extinguishers to hold the fire back initially while a sprinkler system kept flames under control until crews arrived.
Fire-fighters used breathing apparatus and hose-reel jets to tackle the fire and were on site until about 1am.
Fortunately the fire was contained to one machine and the factory was able to open again on the morning of the Wednesday 16th.
