Sprinkler save a Brighton Hostel: 9th June 2015
At about 21:30 hours on Tuesday 9th June a fire broke out in a second floor bedroom at a 46 room adult social care hostel on Grand Parade, Brighton.
The fire, the cause of which is under investigation, caused one concealed sidewall sprinkler head in the room to activate and while two fire appliances were mobilised to the incident, no fire-fighting action was required by attending crews. None of the 46 male occupants at the time of the fire are reported to have suffered injuries.
About 2 square metres of fire damage resulted but only the room in question was affected and the other accommodation was able to continue in use.
More details have been requested.
