The waste transfer building is a single storey brick and metal clad structure about80n x 30m dimensions, used for the storage of ‘recyclable bulky waste’ and ‘brown waste’ prior to it being relocated to the appropriate recycling centres, turned into renewable fuel or onward disposal.

Derbyshire FRS deployed 4 Water Ladders, 1 ALP, 1 BA Support Pod and 3 Officers whilst 2 BA wearers were in continuous use (total of 10 wearers), 1 main jet and 2 on-site water cannons got to work.

The fire was finally extinguished at 04:22 hours with between 21m ² to 50 m² fire damage being recorded.
