London Office Block sprinkler save: 31st May 2016


At 15:47 on Tuesday 31st May 2016, London Fire Brigade mobilised two pumps to a fire in a ground floor brasserie at a multi-purpose group occupancy in Threadneedle Street in the city of London.


The 10 storey (plus basements)building comprises mainly offices with retail outlets at lower levels.

The fire developed in electrical cabling in a refrigeration unit in the coffee shop area but was suppressed/ extinguished by one head on the buildings wet pipe sprinkler system. No fire-fighting action was required by attending crews.


Fire damage is reported to be 5% of the refrigeration unit and crews isolated the sprinkler system and completed the incident with mop up operations.



There were an estimated 1100 persons in the building at the time of the fire and all evacuated safely.
