Clarkston (Scotland) High School sprinkler save: 26th October 2016

A HIGH school was evacuated after fire broke out at a school in Clarkston, Renfrewshire. Scottish Fire and Rescue fire-fighters were called to Williamwood High School following the incident on Wednesday at 9am.

On arrival, they discovered a small fire had occurred in a non-teaching area and this was extinguished by the schools sprinkler system. Crews remained on the scene for two hours.

An East Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “Williamwood High was evacuated on Wednesday morning as a safety precaution, following a minor fire.  No one was hurt and students were back in class in under an hour.

The incident activated the sprinkler system in a non-teaching section of the school and these areas will be back in use by Monday.”

No one was hurt in the incident.
