Bristol Hostel; 13th January 2017

In the early hours of the 13th January 2017, fire-fighters were called to a fire in a basement flat at a Bristol hostel after a suspected arson attack. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Avon F&RS crews from Kingswood fire station arrived to find that the building's sprinklers had extinguished the fire and used a ventilation fan to clear the building of smoke

There were no reports of any injuries at the hostel, which is made up of 11 self-contained flats.

Run by Bristol Mental Health Charity ‘Second Step,’ Wayland Court, in Guinea Lane, Fishponds, provides homes for people with complex needs including homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse and mental health problems.

The site is also its Skills and Learning Centre for the service, the charity describes on their website.
