Birmingham Bull Ring Centre jewellery store : 28th April 2017............
The following is an extract from a report in the Birmingham Mail
Birmingham's Bullring was evacuated today as fire-fighters rushed to the scene in Birmingham city centre when a fire broke out at Goldsmiths jewellery store in the Upper West Hall around 12.30pm this afternoon.
Shoppers and staff were told to evacuate the building over the loudspeaker as fire-fighters and four fire appliances rushed to the scene in Birmingham city centre. The fire is thought to have been started inside bins to the rear of the building, near to the shop's stockroom.
However the fire had been put out by sprinklers in the store moments before fire-fighters arrived. Thousands of pounds of jewellery have been ruined after a fire at the Bullring today, the Birmingham Mail understands.
The Upper West Mall remained closed to shoppers for around an hour after the alarm was raised with the jewellers and neighbouring shop Boutique closed for the rest of the day.
A statement made by the Bullring shortly before 2pm read: "We can confirm that the fire services attended a small fire in one of the retailers in the centre this afternoon. As a precaution the centre was partially evacuated, the centre is now fully open and trading as normal.”
