Sprinkler save at Sheffield school: Tuesday 9th January2018

At 23:52 hours on Tuesday 9th January 2018 a fire occurred in a classroom designated for art at a school in Sheffield. The fire was caused by electrical equipment being left switched on which set light to adjacent paper and a display board

South Yorkshire FRS mobilised two appliances but on arrival the fire had been controlled by one sprinkler head in the classroom and no fire-fighting action was required.

Prompt action by the attending crews prevented excessive water usage and reduced the effect so that the school reopened as normal the following day with only a small area of the arts classroom affected.

More details to follow.
